Who is the Scrap & Grit kid we want to help?
Our goal at Scrap & Grit is to help every single kid follow their passion who is financially in need.
Their passion may be music, theater, sports, debate, or something else. We are just looking for kids who WANT to be engaged at school. All they lack is an opportunity!
Specifically, what are the traits of the Scrap & Grit kids we want to help? We want the kid who won’t let anything get in the way of achieving their dreams. Someone who is willing to get their hands dirty and overcome hardships to be successful in the activity they love.
When scrappy kids get just a little bit of help, they can reach so much further. We don’t care about their skills in their chosen field, but someone who is just determined to be a little better every day.
Problems of why kids can’t do after school activities vary. Tournaments and competition fees cost real money to be paid right now, something Scrap & Grit kids lack.
Sports equipment or costumes or music instruments are expensive. Travel costs are often not paid by the students – a DECA competition 500 miles away from home is truly a “bridge too far”! With just a few resources, students are able and motivated to get to what they love.
